2003-09-04 - 12:03 p.m. - Cycle day: 40 weeks, 4 days

The Doula told me to try to stay relaxed and not worry about induction or all that other stuff, so I tried to take that to heart. We went for a walk last night, then I took a nice, long bath. Ate ice cream (to try to stave of the combination heartburn/nausea)and had The Husband rub my feet. Went to bed early.

I woke up in mild discomfort a few times during the night, but didn't think too much of it. But then ...

I got up this morning and noticed some spotting. Hmm. When I went to the bathroom, there seemed to be an unusual amount of discharge, and then I realized there was a big ol' glob of mucus in the loo. I tried not to get too excited, but within half an hour, my belly went on a total emptying mission. For the second time in two days. Which is highly unusual lately, in case you cared.

I sat down at my desk and started trying to get some work done, but then I noticed that there was something else going on. Something crampy. And my back hurt in a new way. I didn't really think much of it at first, but then I noticed it was happening more often. Mild enough that I couldn't detect a definite start and finish if I was distracted with other things, but repetitive enough that it got my attention.

My friend N. called, and then my mom called. I dared to tell both of them what I think is happening. I haven't talked to The Husband yet, and I'm waiting on calling the Doula until I can at least say "they're coming every XX minutes or so." (Which, right now, seems to be about 20.) But I think we're getting there. We're not on the fast track just yet, but I feel headed in the right direction.

Stay tuned ...
