My first official Mother's Day. I know we celebrated it last year, but it takes on a whole new meaning once your child is out in the world instead of nestled securely inside your abdomen. Most of the day was spent trying to keep M. in something resembling comfort. We hit a very unpleasant teething stage over the weekend, and she's been prone to random crying jags and obvious pain for the last few days. She was even running a fever on Saturday. The only upside is that feeling so punk made her sleep in until almost 10:30 this morning, but that gift was pretty much negated when she threw up her breakfast all over me.

Speaking of gifts, The Husband got me a spa certificate good for a therapeutic massage, a manicure/pedicure and a "light lunch," whatever that means in spa world. I'm very, very excited about it. I'm already fantasizing about having three hours all to myself that don't require any planning or effort on my part. I just get to relax and be taken care of. I've never been a big spa person, because the idea of being prodded by strangers in an unfamiliar setting didn't seem very relaxing to me, but now I'm mentally drooling over it.
