Okay, maybe I just want it too badly, but I swear that over the last couple days, M. has started saying "mama" with something resembling intent. Or, more accurately, "mamamamama." It's usually out of frustration, like when she wants to go to sleep but can't remember how, or doesn't want to have another piece of clothing pulled over her head. But it does seem like a purposeful sound, rather than something that's just popping out. Either way, hearing it is like putting a cigarette out on my soul. I feel pulled to her even more strongly, and much more urgently, than ever before.
Tricky little suckers, aren't they?
